Palm Springs Tramway adventure: Up, up and away for a cooling, bird's eye view at the top
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is a great escape when temperatures in Palm Springs climb to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It's 35-40 degrees cooler at this lovely vista and is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world, opened in September 1963 as a way of getting from the floor of the Coachella Valley to the top of San Jacinto Peak. It was constructed in rugged Chino Canyon with helicopters bringing in materials.

All aboard for a wild scenic train ride on the White Pass and Yukon Railway
Riding the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad from Skagway is one of Alaska’s most scenic excursions. Built during the Klondike Gold Rush, the historic train climbs steep mountain passes, crossing trestle bridges and waterfalls on its way to White Pass Summit. It’s a breathtaking journey through gold rush history and rugged wilderness.
